About Us

Everyone’s Welcome

We believe every child should be valued as an individual. By accepting and supporting them for who they are today, we take the essential first step in helping them reach their full potential.

Christian-Based
Curriculum

As a ministry of North Douglas Church, our curriculum is rooted in Christian values that guide both our teaching and our community. While we welcome children from all backgrounds and faiths, we focus on instilling principles of love, kindness, and respect in everything we do. Through a nurturing and supportive environment, we inspire children to grow with strong moral foundations while embracing a sense of belonging and acceptance.

Fully Licensed Non-Profit Childcare Facility

North Douglas Preschool is a fully licensed facility and is regulated by the Vancouver Island Health Authority. It operates as a non-profit entity under the direction of the board of North Douglas Child Care Society.

Holistic Learning Environment

Our holistic approach supports academic, social, emotional, and spiritual growth, creating an environment where children feel valued as individuals. Through play and exploration, we guide each child toward their full potential while fostering a love for learning and a sense of community.

Fernanda Supervisor - ECE ITE

Hi there! I am originally from Mexico and have a degree in Psychology, with years of experience working closely with children and their families. One of the greatest joys of my job is watching the little ones grow, learn and discover the world- it’s truly an honor to be part of that journey. When I am not in the classroom, you can find me travelling, tasting new foods, dancing or getting lost in a good book. I can’t wait to meet you and your child and share in this special chapter together..

I love caring for children and being part of their early learning journey, I create a safe, loving and playful environment where each child feels happy and secure. Watching them grow, explore and learn brings me so much joy. I work closely with families to build strong relationships. Your child’s well-being and development are always my top priority. In my free time I love learning new recipes or trying new cuisines, going walks or hiking, and I’ve never missed a sunset when I am near the ocean.

I am from Colombia and I have experience caring for and supporting children at different stages of their development. I love seeing them grow, explore, and develop their abilities. My previous academic background has more to do with early stimulation, so my approach is learning through play and enhancing their well being.

I was born in Bogotá, Colombia, and discovered early on my passion for supporting children’s learning and development. This led me to pursue a career as an Early Childhood Educator. I completed my studies at Sprott Shaw College and gained hands-on experience working in a daycare for over a year and a half. One of my practicums took place at North Douglas Preschool, where I was drawn to the engaging and nurturing approach to early childhood care—eventually leading me to join the team. I’m a cheerful, respectful, and friendly person who values connection with both people and the environment.
